Job Description –Compliance Manager
The Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining company-wide compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards. This role oversees document control, process enhancement, and compliance training, ensuring a secure system for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory documentation. The manager will collaborate across departments to drive continuous improvement, facilitate audits, and uphold compliance best practices. In addition, this position will oversee Quality Control within production, ensuring that products meet established standards and implementing corrective actions when issues arise.
Core Tasks and Responsibilities –
Compliance Related:- Ensure all operational activities of Lazy River Products maintain compliance as it relates to CCC regulations by assisting with examining, evaluating, or investigating work tasks conducted in LRP business units of retail, cultivation, and product manufacturing and distribution.
- Responsible for coordinating the tracking, preparation, and completion of regulatory filings, licensing, and compliance documents.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive compliance program to ensure operations adhere to all relevant federal, state, and municipal regulations.
- Develop and keep current written company policy to ensure that the company’s operations and transactions meet external regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Ensure executives and department managers are up to date on our compliance responsibilities and are organized to meet those responsibilities.
- In conjunction with operations, work closely with a third-party lab to ensure products are being tested in compliance with applicable regulations. Ensure that the results are communicated and recorded on a timely and accurate basis.
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. This includes providing guidance to department managers on implementing policy and/or processing changes to comply with new and/or changes to regulations.
- Work with marketing team to ensure website, product packaging and labeling meets regulatory standards.
- Ensure that Company’s operational policies and procedures, such as quality control, reporting, staff training, record-keeping, accounting, and administration remain compliant with local and state laws.
- Periodically audit processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses and potential improvements.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Safety & Health Related:
- Support OSHA compliance and serve as a key member of the safety team.
- Implement safety initiatives in alignment with company policies.
- Provide new hires training and conduct annual trainings.
- Coordinate with company’s workers comp safety rep.
- Responsible for OSHA annual filings.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience -
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- OSHA certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years working directly with Safety team for OSHA requirements required.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a related field (highly regulated industry that requires rigorous governmental record-keeping and reporting requirements) required.
- Minimum of 5 year of experience in MA Adult-Use cannabis industry experience required.
- Prior experience with Metrc, Dutchie, or other seed-to-sale tracking system experience required.
- Compliance system (manual and/or vendor) implementation required.
- Interacting with auditors and regulators required.
- Managing cross-functional teams required.
- Assisting with Cup Entries required.
- Assisting to coordinate QC Samples required.
- Product Management SOP creation required.
- Quality Control experience required:
- Assessing and Attending to quality issues during and after production.
- Issuing corrective actions for prevention of issues in the future.
- Document revision control, and a Quality Management System that can be recommended required.
- Building all SOP's on an approved template required.
- Coordination of scheduled SOP meetings required.
- Easy distribution and making SOP's available for viewing but keeping secure required.
- Guidance to entire organization for compliance adherence required.
- CCC Audits - understanding how to perform spot audits, as well as working directly with the CCC for actual CCC audits required.
- CCC Licensing – experience with, and ability to manage all license renewals required.
- CCC Energy Requirements - experience with, and ability to manage required.
Physical Requirement/Work Environment –
- Administrative work environment.
- This job function may include sitting, walking, or standing or driving for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge –
- Knowledge of CCC rules and regulations, state, and local laws.
- Computer Software — Knowledge of Windows OS, basic computer navigation, and Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- CCC business license renewal requirements.
Skills –

- Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- Attention to Detail — Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing.
Abilities –
- Ability to conduct recurring training to employees.
- Fluent in the English language, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt with software updates and procedures.
- Commitment to learning and continuous development.
Additional Requirements –
- This position requires travel - must have a valid driver’s license and reliable, working vehicle.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and comply with all legal or company regulation requirements for working in the industry.
